SHEEP WORRYING - ALWAYS ON THE MINDS OF FARMERS

Sheep Worrying is another major concern for Sheep Farmers. We can provide cover for the loss by death - including sheep having to be put down for humane reasons - following an attack by dogs. All of the insurance companies have different limits. For instance Axa Insurance currently has two options -- €4,500 or €7,500 while Aviva Insurance currently has a limit of €12,000. HOW CAN I INSURE MY SHEEP DOGS?

As well as being your best friend and assistant, your sheep dog can be worth a lot of money – many are valued around €3,000 and more. As part of your sheep farm insurance policy, we can add on cover for your working dog.

The only way to insure a working dog in Ireland, at the moment, is under the pedigree section of a farm insurance policy. This has an age restriction of 5 years old for new business and 7 years of age for renewals. This will cover it for death by accident, illness or disease and also for unexplained disappearance and theft. We think that this is quite young and are glad to be able to tell you that we have successfully negotiated a higher age limit for some of our clients.
